Rein put her hand back in her pocket and chuckled self-conciously. It wasn't that surprising at this point that some people may not know what a handshake is.

"At the very least, it could make the world a lot more interesting." She said after considering Spyro's statement.

Spyro nodded thoughtfully in reaction to Rein's comment, then turned to see the source of the new voice. He blinked a few times in response, then shrugged. He seems to understand the meaning.

"Part of the ship, part of the crew," he says sadly, shaking his head in a slightly awkward manner.

"I haven't heard anyone call use a 'crew' before. I'm Gunkly." He said from where he stood. "I think Spyro is kind of a cool name. It can't be any more weird then 'Gunkly'."

Rein had a sudden thought.

"Do you only speak in quotes, or is it by choice?" She asked Spyro.

"Sir." One of the aides said. This one was wearing a paper plate over his (her?) face, with a single line across it to represent a mouth.

"Aide." The Doctor said. "Tell me, what have you done today?" He gazed around him at the menagerie. They were very deep underground, in one of the floors subjects were never allowed in. And never, ever allowed out of.

"This is our latest project." The aide said. She was standing next to a pen containing tigers. Or at least, sort of tigers. They were even bigger than most tigers, and had many more teeth. Their fur was a deep red, lacking stripes, and their eyes were bloodshot. "We took the genes of a..."

"Don't tell me the details. I just need something that can challenge a small group of subjects." The aide began to speak, but the Doctor put a finger to the paper plate's mouth.

"I'll find something myself. Let's see..." He began strolling the brightly lit hall, gazing at the abominations in the cages, before selecting one.

"Take this to floor five. Susan will be waiting for you." The Doctor said.

"Yes, Doctor." The aide nodded.

"I need to go pay a visit." The Doctor headed for the elevator. Deeper, he went. Into the lowest floor the elevator would go to. He got off, then went lower. He exited in a corridor. In contrast to the blank, brightly lit floors above it, this floor was a bit dim, barely lit by the bulbs hanging above. He sighed as he walked throgh the hall. It was lined with glass tanks, each one holding a a teenage girl. All of them looked identical: Medium-length red hair, and bright blue eyes. Most of them were in strait jackets, and sat, staring blankly. A single one was ramming the glass fruitlessly. Each cell was labelled with a single word, "Princess." Then a serial number.

The numbers went all the way up to 106.

The Doctor's usual toothy grin was absent as he passed his failures. It began to return as he entered the next room. A huge chamber, the only light coming from the top of a pyramid of chrome stairs. Atop it sat a glowing blue orb, with a shadowy shape on it. The Doctor approached it, then wrapped his arms around it.

"I think...I think it's all worth it." He nodded, pressing his face to the bulb. A warm smile spread across his face. It was a shame nobody but him ever entered this room. Because in this room, gazing upon his magnum opus, was the only time he smiled and meant it.

"Will all subjects in the auditorium please report to elevator four on floor two? Guards will escort you to your next destination from there. Your cooperation is appreciated."

This can't be good... Alice thought. "We should go." Alice said as she walked off.

Rein made a face.

"And here I was about to go to the gym and kick at a metal pole for an hour."

"Right behind you." Gunkly said as he turned to leave. He felt himself feeling a bit of trepidation once again. What was the doctor going to put them through this time?

The guards escoreted the subjects to the observation room, not uttering a sound. They were lead to the largest one. Inside it was a televison, on a metal stand. The Doctor was leaning against it. In front of the TV was a large couch, and a table with a bowl of popcorn.

"Welcome!" The Doctor said, his arms stretched aside, like he was ready to embrace all of the subjects. "I need you guys for an experiment. I need you to watch this movie. Afterwards, you'll need to write what you thought about it." His eyes went to John.

"Or dictate it to one of the aides. I'll go find one. Ciao!" The Doctor flipped on the TV, and a familiar song played. Every subject new it. They were forced to watch THe Doctor's biographic film at least every few months.

"I'll come back with more popcorn if you need it." One of the guards said, as the all left.

"Oh you gotta be freaking kidding me here!" John exclaimed in disbelief as he heard the music. That annoying movie was starting and he had no choice but to watch it this time. "Oh forget you I already watched that crap and it doesn't even deserve a raspy award."he frowned as he sat down on the floor and grumbled.

Seeing this move way to many times before, Alice already started a written response that was filled with lies about how much she adored the doctor, and that what he was doing was admirable.

While writing, Alice couldn't help but think. Man, this guy is an ego maniac. Putting her pen down, Alice decided to shut her eyes and take a nap.

Delta completely ignored the video as well, she had trouble trying to understand the parts that explained science. It's not like I know how to write either... she thought as the others jotted down notes, or at least pretended to write them down.

Rein made an attempt to watch for 5 minutes, then wrote some random crap that made it sound like she liked it.

Gunkly was curious about the film. He had watched it before but not quite as much as the others. Maybe he wasn't used enough to it to get really sick of it. Gunkly didn't know what it caught his attention. Maybe it was because the Doctor was one of the very first things Gunkly had seen upon hatching but he still didn't feel like he knew much at all about him. Gunkly watched the movie intently. He was trying to see if there were any clues nestled in there about who the doctor was.

When Rein was confronted by Rein, who wanted to know about his manner of speaking, Spyro only shook his head, very, very sadly.

Spyro, who had quietly followed the guards and was sitting on the floor, as he was told, took the paper and pencil in his hands. Then, with barely a second of hesitation, he flung them aside angrily. A small electric current danced across his body, making his hair stand on end for a few seconds.

"The Enrichment Center regrets to inform you that this next test is impossible," he chattered. "Make no attempt to solve it."

He then proceeded to watch the movie, with great interest. However, he refused to touch his paper and pencil, regardless of the orders to take notes.

The movie detailed...Well, it talked about something akin to The Doctor's life. According to it, The Doctor was the smartest man in the history of mankind, and had invented many things that people took for granted, like television, cars, and the cure for cancer. He had given these inventions to others out of the goodness of his heart. He also donated most of his money to charity, and was the President's close personal friend.

Meanwhile, The Doctor was in his office, feeding his new pet: A large insectoid creature, the size of a very small dog. It had a red carapace, green eyes on stalks, and huge pinchers.

"I think I'll name you...Styx Jr." The Doctor said, feeding it a hamster.

"I'm flattered, sir." Styx said.

"Sir!" An aide said, barging in.

"Don't you people knock?! What if we were naked?" The Doctor yelled.

"Why would we be naked, doc?" Styx asked, petting Styx Jr.

"Are...Are you using the big observation room?" The aide asked, gasping for air, having ran the whole way.

"Yes, why? I'm just having a party for some of the subjects as a reward for helping clean the auditorium." The Doctor said, watching as the oversized bug disemboweled the rodent.

"We...We told you! We were testing the new virus. We needed more time to decontaminate the room!"

"...Shit." The Doctor said, his eyes open wide. He picked up his new pet and handed it to Styx.

"Watch Junior. I need to run an errand." The Doctor said. Moments later, in the observation room, The Doctor's voice blared over the intercom.

"Um...Guys? We have a bit of a problem. You...May or may not be infected with a flesh eating virus that will cause necrosis in about 15 minutes. But don't worry! We have enough of the antidote for all five of you! There are five of you, right?"

Gunkly watched the doctor's documentary in wonderment. Did he actually do all of those things? It was very possible this wasn't true but at the very least it was a look into how the doctor thought of himself. Whether he invented the cure for cancer or not, he had a really great opinion of himself. Though he wondered how people could take the cure for cancer for granted at all. You'd think people would appreciate not dying.

The loudspeaker interrupted the thought as the doctor relayed the news.
"We have a new person..." Gunkly said with a tinge of dread. " There are six of us now. That's not good at all." Gunkly wondered if the toxins in his blood would hold the disease at bay but he'd rather not have to find out.
"Does that mean one of us is going to... well. You know where I'm getting at.."

Spyro's eyes went wide, as he stared around the room in search of the voice that had no body. After failing to find it, he settled down a little bit. But just a little. He turned to face Gunkly.

"For the good of all of us..." he said.
