They removed some of the forums or redesigned them that is the most likely cause for the shift in post counts.

I think all of the post count decreases is that they finally got around to synching the post counts.. I'm 99% sure this is because of the games forum, that at first it was changed so you don't get a post count change from it, but it still kept the posts you made in the games forum so most people kept their giant post counts.

Now I have to get up to 2000 again so I can do what I was aiming for (2,009, lol)

That's correct, all posts in the games sections no longer count to the post count.

Hence why some people have suffered a dramatic drop in their post count.

I thought I'd lose more than 400 TBH.
