Obviously name my character Zach, tho in my first Silver I was Zachary. Hmmm, I may do that in SoulSilver...
Ever since Chikorita I've pretty consistently picked Grass for a starter.
I always use an Electric type if possible, as early as possible. Preferably Ampharos or Lanturn.
I always try out a new Poke that I've never really used before in my main team. For example, in Platinum, I have my trusty Rapidash, which I'd only caught for Dex data in the past.
