Ash's choice in his team against Tobias. Torkoal and Corphish, really. REALLY

"XY sucks amirite"Keeping Ash as a main character after Kanto, ignoring type preference for Gym Leader companions, Alain's OP Mega Charizard X, Ash-Greninja, shippings (especially ContestShipping and AmourShipping), Bonnie/Max in the main cast, Nini as Serena's rival, and last but not least, Cilan's eyes.
Well, XY had the best villain arc so far, and Serena, Clemont, Sawyer and few other characters were pretty enjoyable"XY sucks amirite"
Bonnie/Max in the main cast.
I don’t hate those two, but I don’t really think they were needed.
Bonnie played a pretty huge role in the Team Flare arc and I don't think that could have been filled by any of the other characters. Max didn't have much of a role beyond being May's little brother who didn't have his own Pokemon though. Out of the two, I think that Bonnie was the little kid main character done right, or at least done better than Max. Having Dedenne and eventually Squishy to interact and bond with gave her a lot more to do than Max normally did.
Max may not have done much, but he did help out AG group dynamic. Remove him and the group dynamic would be similar to DP, which was not good. (Dawn and Ash had great chemistry, but Brock was a complete afterthought.)
I forgot about the Team Flare arc because I was bored of it, so I didn’t remember that part :-/. While I don’t like Serena as much, that same arc shows that at least she was trying to be an asset to the gang rather than a liability.

Not really. Ash and May's relationship didn't have nearly as much focus compared to what Ash and Dawn had in DP, so I really doubt that it would have been that similar. Calling Brock a complete afterthought also sounds like a stretch to me. He taught Dawn how to treat injured Pokemon, which helped with Mamoswine listening to her again, and he helped in the Team Galactic arc. I understand why fans complain that he was still in DP and it was for the best he was written off after that series, but I don't think it's accurate to say that he was a complete afterthought. Plus, did Brock really have any really noteworthy or memorable interactions with May?
She had other things on her mind other than Ash.I wish that Amourshipping never existed because it shifted the focus of Serena's development for a long time and she never really got rid of the stigma of being Ash's wannabe love interest.

While I do think her crush on Ash could had been downplayed a bit. I think your overselling how much she was thinking of Ash a bit.Eventually, but it took almost a year for her to find a permanent activity to do that didn't involve her lusting after Ash.
May was still the deuteragonist of AG and received a ton of focus, not to the level of Dawn's, but still a lot. Ash is Ash, so Brock still ran the risk of being an afterthought without Max. I hate the character, but he did give Brock someone to talk to when the focus was on Ash and May. As for memorable Brock/May interactions, I thought May's dragging Brcok on her various shopping trips were fairly well done.

I was more bothered by the teleporting Quick Attack tbhJohto: Fire cushion. I feel that that explanation was added at the second just to make Ash lose
