Wrote the next chapter of Dawn of Courage today ("The Depraved Dominic"). Slightly filler-ish but, hey, we all need to spend some time with the universe's karma punching bag, right?
Anyway, the party is still on their way to the Lava Elf Clan. However, they are soon confronted by Dominic in his usual bluster. After accidentally letting it slip that his steel broadsword is compensating for his "personal sword", Dominic managed to anger Nina. She gives him a challenge to prove his worth: kill a Iron-Horn Bison and bring it back to them and she'll think about giving Dominic a chance. Dominic runs off eagerly. Nina reveals that she plans to use the exact wording of her statement, namely the "think" part, to stonewall Dominic, since she never said she'd outright give him a chance, which is something Nova would do. Later on Dominic is being chased by a Iron-Horn Bison, his steel broadsword having been broken (again). When the edible monster catches up to him it sends him flying, causing a random Simpsons-like explosion when Dominic lands, to the confusion of the party (especially Nova, who flat-out questions how it was possible). The Iron-Horn Bison attempts to charge the party but is killed by the instant-death chance effect from Nina's Skull Rings. The party confronts Dominic and he blows a gasket, blaming Nova for everything (as always), to which Nova responds by shooting him in the crotch with a Fire Shot that, combined with the hellfire traits of the Hellfire Bow, sets Dominic on fire with both magical and demon fire. He jumps into the Rafiki River to douse the flames but is swept downstream by the strong, fast current. The party continues their journey. The next chapter, "Molten Magma Mania", features the party meeting the Lava Elves and dealing with the Undead Army on the other side of the Salamandra Volcano.
