What DON'T you want to see in SM?

Bad plots and character designs. That's I only ever wanted to get rid for.

This is why Gamefreak needs to improve and bring back customization. All those outfit problems would be solved if we had a variety of clothes to choose from for both the male and the female PCs.

Yep. This is why I absolutely LOVE customization in X and Y, because they allowed more clothing options for girls, even if they still used those super short shorts. I'd love it if they introduced longer shorts or even capris.

Things I don't want to see:
1. Undeveloped story and characters, especially if villains are just there and can't be a real source of danger.
2. Too childish characters, including and especially friends\rivals. At first I liked Bianca, for example, but then her childish\overly friendly behaviour started annoying me. I like rivals to be really competitive, with their own dark motives.
3. Too much fluff and childishness overall. Please no "power of friendship". Overly cutesy pokemon who jump around their trainers making cute sounds are a part of this, too. Cute pokemon are not only not very cool but also not fun to fight with. I am feeling like I am abusing someone! The worst kind is a mix of cute and realistic, then I am feeling like a true animal-abusing criminal! Please, no! Let Pokemon stay powerful and mysterious.
4. To be honest, every kind of plot development until now. We need something new!
5. Too much focus on legendaries.
6. Empty routes with not many things to do. I liked making movies in BW2, it was something else! I would really like something like that and even more. It is even weird that Gen 6 went in another direction after this...
7. Too many old pokemon. I know it probably won't happen but I'd like to see all-new pokemon game! Not a single old pokemon until you beat the Elite Four! And all of them must be unique in their typings.
8. Goody-two-shoes professor and overly chivalrous champion. Why can't a professor be a traitor for once, why can't a champion be a villain? And why must every gym leader become your friend? They could also be villains or stay rivals with you. I liked Clair because she stays your rival to the very end.
9. New player-oriented game. I think Game Freak really forgets that there are NOT VERY MANY people who just start playing pokemon now. Absolute majority of players already knows the franchise very well and expects something greater than before. Actually, Yokai Watch is a hit with a younger crowd, not Pokemon. Some people even said that Pokemon is for adults and Yokai Watch is for kids because it is more comedy-oriented.

No trainer customization or pokemon customization. Waste of time and not rewarding. Glad that ORAS did not had that.

Speak for yourself, I found trainer customization very rewarding. I could finally put myself in the game and change my characters clothes/hair if I disliked how it looks. *glares at Dawn* Plus it made me actually want to battle random players since I'd get to see someone besides a clone/gender swap of the person I'm playing as. Personally at this point I feel like if they're going to give me a character I can't change the look of, I hope they drop the whole 'silent protagonist' thing. Obviously our character should talk, even if it just gives me the option to say something beyond yes/no. It's obvious our characters talk... I mean, on nugget bridge Leaf is clearly refusing to join Team Rocket. They don't even give you a "but thou must!" yes/no option! They just imply the character is refusing.

I really REALLY hope they don't add more trade evolutions in new pokemon. They're annoying. You either have to hope you get a wonder traded pokemon that evolves, or you have to find someone you can trust to not steal your pokemon and will send it back to you. It seems kind of lame that, if you want to raise a pokemon, you have to trade that pokemon away if you ever want to see it evolve.

-I'd have to say less handholding and "dumbing things down"/simplifying things/making things more easy. *glares at Fallout 4 for following this trend as well*. But...yeah. That's just seems to be the trend that video game developers seem to lean on heavily as of late. Ya gotta make the game casual for everyone, it's only fair. But. It's not fun that way? Anyway.

-A lack of a serious enemy or Rivals. Why can't the rival be a dick to you? Isn't that why they/xe are your rival? Because you share a grudge. And it's been said, but no Team Flare again

-Shoddy story writing. Again, sorry XY//OR/AS, as neat as you are, you guys didn't have the strongest or best stories *cough the Delta Chapter noise in ORAS cough*

-Abandoning old mechinics that were fun/neat/useful. Pokemon following you around in SoSi/HeGo was a nifty mechinic, so was player customization in XY, and so were a few other things

-Please please please for the love of God and whatever other deities and elderitch brings out there, don't go with the ReBURST mechanic of human/Pokemon fusions of Pokemon fusions in general. Those just sound like things out of fanfiction (not to insult fanfiction, I'm sure there are really great fan works out there)

I guess a lot of what I said can be summarized as: Gamefreak, don't pull a Bethesda.

If you feel that it's a waste of time, then just don't use it. That's all you have to do. No need to completely excise the feature that the majority of players loved.

But don't you think it should be expanded to stay interesting? Now it offers so little in terms of customization that it sometimes doesn't look like a customization at all. Especially for the male players. Plus all these clothes are childish. Why can't I dress like a mature trainer I am in real life?

@RuinManiacNero; Actually the thought of character customizaton effecting your team might be a thought. Depending on what you wear my give certain types a boost, or certain stats a boost or maybe effect Happiness or item finding? That way when you go and buy or get rewarded with articles of clothing, they'll have different summary within them.

Previous posters said it, but saying it again but with my opinion:

Too many legendaries is a big "donotwant". Especially us players who played previous gen(s) before.

Speaking of previous gens, no more fire-fighting starters. They're cool and we love them, but we had enough of them. (If it like a mixing color combo kind of starters; like water-grass, grass-fire, fire-water. That be cool and interesting)

Lack of a dark gym leader. We only have three dark type specialists in pokemon, three. In 20 years of pokemon.

Well of course it should be expanded. But XY were the first time they had ever attempted a feature like that, and came alongside many other "first-time attempting" features like Amie and Super Training and the 3D graphics themselves. It's unrealistic to expect perfection from the first attempt, but you have to start somewhere.

But then, my point was simply that no matter what, they shouldn't cut it out entirely just because some people don't like it. Most players seem to like the feature, and it's optional, so if somebody who doesn't like it chooses to partake of it anyway, they only have themselves to blame.

I'm getting besides the point here, but I also feel like it's a bit sweeping to say "all these clothes are childish." Obviously there's a subjective element here, but I think there is a good variety of options and styles; I've pieced together a handful of outfits that come pretty close to what I wear in real life. Even beyond myself, much of what's available seems just like regular clothing that I can see constantly in my local area. So unless you're talking something like business suits which, sure, they could have included and could still do in an expansion, I don't really see what you mean.

Hey, Poison has just as many and it's been around for longer. Not only that, Dark's had three Elite Four members and Poison's had only one, plus two Gyms.

Please stop having the evil teams use the stock evil pokémon for their region. It's boring.

Please stop having the evil teams being run by omnicidal maniacs. It's unrealistic (who would willingly work for someone who wants to destroy all creation?) and we've had that twice now.

Please stop having the evil teams shoehorn legendary/mythical pokémon into the plot. It was fun for RSE because it was the first time it happened. It was not fun in DPP or XY. (Caveat: I'm biased a little in this opinion because my 3rd gen game was Emerald, where it was clear that an outside intervention was necessary - both in terms of the teams' deadlock and the clash between Groudon and Kyogre).

Please stop requiring me to catch mythical pokémon to advance the plot. If I want one, I want to go out of my way to get one.

You have evil teams and a fossil restoration mechanic. Why haven't the two intersected yet?

(Side note: I would like to see an official Randomized Trainers mode for the main game, too, so that I don't have to rely on ethically-questionable means to achieve better replayability - it gets boring when I know what team types are the best to use.)

to be fair, i don't think the Galactic Admins knew quite what Cyrus had in mind. after all, Saturn mentions that he had no idea what Cyrus was going for ("What our boss really wanted... Even I don't know that"). and Team Flare was a Noah's Ark-esque club, so i'm sure while they didn't want to necessarily see the world be destroyed, they also were thinking in their own self-interest.

I acknowledge the point, but in Cyrus' case it's really hard to keep your plans secret from your co-conspirators when you're being a criminal mastermind. They tend to mutiny if they feel they're being kept in the dark about important stuff, especially with something like "Oh, by the way, I'm going to remake all of creation and ascend as the god of the new world. Here's your paycheck."
An argument can be made that Cyrus presented his plans as being a Noah's Ark scenario like Lysandre's were, but from what I remember of DPP Cyrus' ego should have betrayed his ambitions long before Team Galactic became a credible threat.

it's not like he didn't have a fake goal for Galactic. the overarching goal for the Team was to simply rule the world. that's what Galactic believed they were fighting towards, and it's clear that no one seemed to know that Cyrus was truly aiming towards remaking the world anew as its god (and without spirit in Pt). not to mention that Ghetsis did the exact same thing in BW. if realism is what you have in mind, i think you may be at a loss, especially given the fact that this is also a world where there is little to no engaged law enforcement nor even responsible adults.*

* - mind you that's a popular trope, but even still.

I haven't actually finished BW yet so I didn't know Ghetsis was included in the group. Thus far I've thought Ghetsis was just trying to confiscate all the guns pokémon to consolidate his own position as King of Unova.

Regarding the realism thing - I suppose a somewhat intelligent yakuza/mafia is hard to present accurately, let alone in such a way that the Young Genius Prodigy Protagonist still triumphs over them.

I had a big rant here but I decided to move that to my forumblog instead since it arguably veered off-topic and it more-or-less echoes someone else's earlier "Stop making the Main Character be THE CHOSEN ONE".

They sort of did with Genesect and Team Plasma in Gen V, but you could only find that out via the event or by looking at Genesect's Dex entries.

No, that's correct. He wasn't trying to remake the world or anything. I think what @godiego was getting at was how he lied and kept his true intentions secret from the majority of his underlings, as Cyrus also did (though not Lysandre).

But that's all a slightly different matter. People joined Team Plasma because they honestly believed in their message of liberation. Whereas the Galactic grunts were specifically chosen by Cyrus because they were greedy idiots who wouldn't ask questions:

> Cyrus: ...So you've come. You heard my speech, I take it. Snicker... A big lie, of course. It's true, insofar as my intention is to create a new world. But that world isn't for the likes of Team Galactic. I seek an entirely new world solely for myself. If not, it could never be the complete and perfect world. You've seen my minions of Team Galactic. You yourself must know that they are uniformly useless and incomplete.

I like where you're going here. Better yet, apply some time travel between dinosaur times and modern day to foil the bad guys' plan.
