What's wrong with Buneary?

On looking at its pokedex entries, Buneary doesn't seem so anguished. But then you notice it's the only non-legendary pokemon to start with base friendship 0, and more over, it's the only one to learn Frustration by leveling up.
What's up with that? Are all Bunearies miserable, angsty, distrustful creatures?

bunerys are supposed to be soft an cuddly bunnies full of love and joy. but when u take them out of their natural habitat, theyl hate u forever unless u prove ur worth.

That's actually interesting to think about. Especially since they evolve by friendship

Buneary, unlike usual rabbits, can attack humans whatever. They have zero base friendship if they are wild, however if the friendship raises, the risks of being attacked by a Buneary would go down.

You have to keep in mind that Lopunny would learn Return at the same level that Buneary learns Frustration, and that Lopunny is, likewise, the only pokemon to learn Return through leveling up. So, I don't think that this is indicative of there being anything "wrong" with Buneary as such; it's just to make it that extra bit challenging, so that if you want your lapine friend to learn Return by itself, you have to put everything into maxing out its happiness at the earliest level possible.
