Harvest Moon (Story of Seasons)/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

I've since grown Corn and a few other things though Summer of Year 1 is nearly over

I had the good fortune to come across a Rune Factory(PS3)Game only two downsides to it were

1.Was Preowned
2.Was $73

:(

:nono: See there's only one game I would play that much money for and that's Wind Waker. Or Mother 3 but you know whatever...

But I have Harvest Moon Animal Parade And there's just something... off about it...

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

Really? It only last 10 years? To be quiet honest I though HM games never ended. ._.

Same here. I wonder what happens at at the end of year 10 then :0

I usually make it to about year three or four before i've achieved everthing, and then I stop playing. I need to pick up TOTT though, before New Beginning gets a UK release.

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

Oh god, I hope it's not a death of your player in HM: A Wonderful Life. Because that's just tragic. D;

And same here myself, after marriage in the games and having a kid I usually feel like I'm done with the games myself. P:

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

Events and upgrades are done by about year 4 really, for the average player anyway. I would be shocked if your character died after 10 years though XD
I think the game will probably just carry on as usual but there wont be anything to look forward too. For everyone who has Land of New Beginnings, mind giving me some feedback. It's not out in the UK yet, probably wil be released here around June. I'm undecided about it.

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

I have yet to see any hint of a release date, actually, let alone June. Rising Star, the EU publisher of both series so far, has not mentioned plans to publish A New Beginning OR Rune Factory 4 in Europe and I haven't seen any news of either being published here by anyone else either.

Ooh, I could of swore I saw it listed as released on June the something. I can't remember the website, chances are it was fake anyway. I'd imagine we'll get it sometime this year regardless of when, so the question still stands :b

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

I've never played Rune Factory. Is that the game that is similar to TOTT, at least in regards to the request boards?

I actually think Harvest Moon got that from Rune Factory 2. :p But yes they're similar in regards to farming, getting married, and making friends. The only obvious differences would be well the fighting, and items. In each Rune Factory game there's usually a total of 4 (or 5) dungeons, each representing a season and you go through them one buy one as the story unfolds. And as for your weapons you can upgrade those like you do farm tools so that's not much different, and also instead of regular farm animals you get to raise monsters that are very similar to livestock anyways. x)

I myself have a preference for RF, cause I like leveling up my character and fighting ofc. x)

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

It sounds good. I should get it :)

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

I'd recommend the 3rd game in the series then. It's probably the shortest in the game, but I think it had the best characters and humor. And it's pretty straightforward imo.

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

Is it any easier to progress with the third than in the first? I tried the very first but it always felt terribly slow and cumbersome to make any money and thus get anything done. It's genuinely put me off trying any since.

Re: Harvest Moon/ Rune Factory General Discussion Thread

The easiest HM game to make money in for me, was HMDS. I just kept gambling at the Sprite Casino until I was rich. It's kind of cheating but it's not at the same time.

Yes. In the third game there's a local wireless function that lets you play dungeons by yourself which can be used for grinding, or collecting drops for cash so if you were really troubled you can use that. Also in the 3rd game they completely eliminated the sleeping bags, so no more worries about not finishing a dungeon either. And there's only 5 dungeons, and a difficulty setting so it's a great place for beginners or people who want to try the series to start from really. :>

Hell I never finished the first game myself, and got back into the series with the third game. :D;

Just wait till A New Beginning is out in the UK. You'll be filthy rich if you abuse wifi like I did. :>

Sounds interesting ^^
In a way it's not really cheating, i'd buy everything anyway, it's just this way I get things sooner. It's not like I become rich, upgrade my house and abandon my farm xD
