Luke watched the remote closely as it floated in front of him, holding his father's pale blue lightsaber at the ready. He had already gotten zapped quite a few times by its weak laser blasts, and did not want to let it happen again. Suddenly, he moved his weapon to guard just as a set of blasts came from the remote, blocking both of them.

"Hey look, I did it!" Luke said. A week ago he had been a simple farm hand, now he was on board a smuggler's ship delivering secret plans to Alderaan for the Rebel Alliance and also training to become a Jedi. He had wanted to get off Tattoine, but he never expected this to be how it would happen.

"Good Luke, now try it with this," said Obi-Wan as he handed Luke a space helmet with an opaque visor.

"But with the blast sheild down I can't even see," Luke said.

"The force will guide you, trust your instincts," assured Obi-Wan.

"Please, hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster by your side," Han Solo said as he watched from the background.

As Luke was practicing, a look of anguish suddenly fell over Obi-Wan. "There's been a great disturbance in the force. It's as though thousands of voices suddenly screamed out in pain and were silenced..."

Tarkin turned to a nearby officer. "You may fire when ready."
