I guess maybe that's for the better tbh. Solgaleo and Lunala's story would work better in a long anime arc than a 90 minute movie in my opinion. So I guess this is where Ash-Pikachu will be distributed, and then M21 may be a Mew or a Marshadow movie.

These teasers usually do mean something. The teaser at the end of M13 had Victini and the teaser at the end of M18 had Zygarde Core. But I guess this one didnt. Maybe they changed their mind or something.

I like continuity so I dont really like that this will take place in another continuity. I guess in my headcanon it will be a separate coexisting continuity, like the Mirror World from that one XY episode

I agree, I would much rather prefer a movie with the Alola cast than a retelling of something we've seen. Btw, I remember that a teaser for M20 at the end of the theatrical release of M19 last year showed the Alola starters. Weird.

And yeah I just read about it and saw the trailer. My initial reaction was: obviously fake. Until I saw the trailer... weird. Understandable from the 20th Anniversary aspect. But I'm not big on reboots. Not that the anime is going full reboot, but this must be at least a reboot of EP001

Funny, I sort of got into it through my dad. When I was little he let me watch tv and was changing the channels looking for something for me to watch and then he stopped at Pokémon. It was the OS episode The Bridge Bike Gang and it was the first time as far as I recall I had come into contact with Pokémon.
