The Isshu Region in the games

My idea for the opening in full.

Arrive in Hiun city, get off the boat, and be stood on the port, be welcomed to Hiun City and the Isshu region. Have a little explore, some parts of the city might be closed off for some reason/people in the way etc. Meet Proffesor Tree and help her with something, (maybe pat her on the back to cure her sea sickness as a reference to kanto games, lol, you get the idea, a very small task, not a challenge at all) then the professor will be all like "I see you don't have any Pokemon, come to my lab in Somewhere town to get one."

She disappears, and you have to go and find that bridge, over the bridge and into that small little starter town looking village find the lab and get the starter. Then she'd be all like, "want to know why I was in Hiun I just got back from the Kanto region to pick something up from my friend Proffesor Oak, its an all new pokemon encyclopedia" hands over Pokedex, "we were wondering if you could fill it up with all the Pokemon in Isshu" And off on your journey you go.

I don't think we'll get to go all the way from Hiun on our own without any pokemon. There's long grass you know! And you should never ever venture into long grass on your own without pokemon :p

Nah, it will probably be picking a starter from a briefcase, again...

Maybe we'd be escorted like in Sinnoh with Barry, or thered be someone along the way saying dont go in the grass, or maybe like a situation where if you go to go in the grass it will be like the little memory thing when it goes "Mum said not to venture into the wild grass without a pokemon" and then makes you step back.

Oh god I hope not, and to be fair to Game Freak the last 2, Platinum and HGSS haven't had that.

That could happen, it does it with the fishing rod/surf, etc.

But I think this is what will end up happening...

The 5 ports in Huin City representing each region was an interesting point, regardless if the games might take up too much space to actually allow you to visit all 5. I almost forgot about that port... so now we have that, and the possible aiport to the northwest. Since they were able to cram Johto and Kanto into HG/SS and still have a crapload of memory space in the DS, I think it's plausible that we might be able to visit at least one previous region... although, with the new features and graphics, I can't say for sure what we'll be able to do. I'm just gonna wait till we get new info...

Well the first rule of Pokemon seems to be that Kanto has to be featured in every generation, and as it is unlikely FRLG will be remade, maybe we are packed off to at least Kanto on that port.

If BW used all that spare space to give us access to all 5 regions in 3D and in some depth, then BW would become the best Pokemon game ever, no doubt, and what a good way to end the DS series, it's unlikely though.

To be honest I'm wondering if the port is to go to Chigoku/Shikoku and the airport for Tohoku to just get them out of the way. The duo as a mini-region and Tohoku for a second region and a more traditional gameplay method, as the gym system seems to be less stuck to cities and more spread out.
Hoenn is the region that Game Freak should get out of the way in Black and White so that the first 3DS versions can be based on Tohoku. I think that having Hoenn as an added region would suffice in terms of extending gameplay and satisfying the Hoenn fans.

Hopefully, the secondary Generation V games (not remakes) can finally do away with Gyms. I get the feeling that if Tohoku or Chugoku did have Gyms, they would share their Elite Four with Kanto and Johto, so they might as well not have any Gyms at all (especially since they would repeat Kanto and Johto's types).

As for the Isshu Gyms, I hope that they will at least complement Hoenn's in much the same way Johto's did Kanto's.

Perhaps the regions will be DLC and you need to store it on the DSi.

Thinking about it, Hoenn does make sense, no point in giving a region to accompany this region when it would need new Pokemon as well. And accompanying the Hoenn gyms? That would mean dragon, bug, dark, ground, steel, water(8th gym for me is ice so eh either one), poison, grass, and uh, I forget. This would be one hell of a wicked line up, so I agree to be honest.

I agree with you, although that doesn't mean that Tohoku and Chugoku are out of the question for the future. They can be used in Generation VI or, as I would have it, in secondary games in this generation provided that some of the new Pokémon are kept hidden in Black and White's data (like most of the old Pokémon in Ruby and Sapphire).

The type you forgot is Dragon, but why would you say the 8th Hoenn Gym is Ice-themed? Both Steel and Ice have recently been covered in Sinnoh and Johto, so one of the two should be left out in favor of Dark. Considering that there have been four Ice specialists and only three Steel experts, I think that Ice should sit this one out.

Tohoku and Chogoku I can see for gen 6 but not for gen 5. Inculding another 100 or so is overkill to be honest, and getting things out of the DS is so easy that's its not funny. I did included dragon, and I said ice if people consider Wallace's gym water for an odd reason.

Walace was water, his main PKM was Milotic, not anything ice.

50 would more than suffice for the purpose of making the first 3DS games unique and fresh, while keeping them compatible with Black and White. The alternative is remakes or a third game (not worthy of being the first games for a new system), or a gap of at least three years between the 3DS' launch and a main series release for the system (now that would be overkill).

I did included dragon,
Then you missed Ghost, which is again, a type recently represented in all Generation IV games. It's been handled just like Ice throughout the generations, so I don't know which one should be left out without seeing all the new Pokémon.

and I said ice if people consider Wallace's gym water for an odd reason.
Are you being coy? It's an Ice gym just because of its interior design?

Eh, I always remember it to be an ice gym, so my bad. And on the issue of the 3DS I agree completely. To be honest I'm hoping the 5th and 6th gens go without a 3rd game and split the 4 years between themselves. The 5th gen through the first two years of the 3DS, and the 6th gen through the 4 years of its release. Not only that, but I can actually expect the 3rd game of the 5th gen to be released next year, going with the motif of a release almost every year(we're already on year 3 in an onslaught of quality games from GF even if its overkill, so they might as well fuck it and go all out).

Maybe we'll be able to visit Hoenn. I like the idea of the 5 ports-5 regions thing too. But, I think we'll mainly be able to visit Hoenn because Kanto, Johto, & Sinnoh have had more than enough time in the limelight, you know? Kanto being in all Gens just seems like a coincidence to me. It was in the first 2, then had to get remade in the next 2. Also, Hoenn's famous port city, Slateport, makes me think even more of the possibility of Hoenn appearing in Black & White, if not in their own remakes this Gen.

Although at first sight this isn't too different from my own idea, I strongly think that a generation needs to be at least three years long. Leaving aside the anime which is of secondary importance, few players would appreciate having their Generation V teams become obsolete after just two years, and plenty of people won't have their Pokédex complete by then. Most importantly, Game Freak can't come up with a new generation in just two years; four generations have proven us just that.

My scenario only requires Game Freak to have planned enough ahead to the point of adding around 50 Pokémon beyond what Black and White absolutely need. In two years' time they can come up with new 3DS games that don't push the system to its limits or have as many new features as would be expected from a new generation. The point would be to avoid creating the impression that the 3DS is about recreating GBA or DS games; Black and White's third version could still come out later, and remakes would be rendered completely unnecessary by adding Hoenn to Black and White.

Not only that, but I can actually expect the 3rd game of the 5th gen to be released next year, going with the motif of a release almost every year(we're already on year 3 in an onslaught of quality games from GF even if its overkill, so they might as well fuck it and go all out).
Do you mean releasing the third version for the DS? I honestly don't see what good could come of that; Crystal and Emerald were released before the then-new systems rather than later, and that is a substantial difference. I'd like to think that Game Freak are finally not holding anything back and making full use of the DS' potential, which they wouldn't do if Black and White weren't meant to be the last DS games.

Game Freak do need a break after these past three years; they will start hiring new employees in 2011, and I doubt their next project can be finalized by the end of the same year.

No I meant for the 3DS, but eh, its unrealistic, scratch that. Its a really odd situation we're in, and to be honest, if they make it for the 3DS, I can expect them to take the ratio of the screen resolution, shrink it to fit with the lower screen and basically make a DS game for the 3DS.

That's horrible. Give them a little more credit than that.

I'm not, cause I can see it happening. The games were designed for the DS, not for the 3DS. The game would need a 3DS based game to go on for the 3rd one, so if the gen has 5 games, your plan would completely work. Fuck. I did all this for nothing....
