DUNGEONS & DRAGONITE
THE QUEST FOR THE AZURE FLUTE

Welcome to the world of Monstrolith, a world inhabited by Pokemon, and only Pokemon. Just like the Pokemon World everyone knows, it is filled with its culture, creatures, and legends. Unlike the Pokemon we know, it takes place in a primitive time period.

This tale is focused on the Kingdom of Dragonia, ruled by the good Charizard King Lizardon V. While most kings are heavily focused on having power over the people and separating the classes, King Lizardon is solely concerned with the well-being of his subjects, and listens to everyone's input, even if it came from a lowly Magikarp. Under his rule, the kingdom should have been at peace. However, this isn't the case.

Recently, Pokemon from all over the world have begun to go "uncivilized". They swarm the wild and attack any passerby they seek, and they don't even listen to anyone's reasoning. To make matters worse, a duo of wicked Ghost-type pokemon, a Gengar named Lucifer and a Mismagius named Lilith, have unleashed an army of ghosts to terrorize the kingdom and its neighbors. King Lizardon was forced to war against these threats, but found that in the process of supporting a strong militia, he was disregarding the needs of his people. Finally, he could no longer take it, and called for the formation of six young pokemon to be drafted in a special military group known as Arceus' Light, to defend their kingdom and serve their king.

You are one of those drafted Pokemon. Your mission is to serve the king and perform anything that he asks you to do. In the process, you hope to discover the cause of this outbreak of "Wild Pokemon", and even save the kingdom of Dragonia.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Within Dragonia Castle, the ruler of the kingdom, King Lizardon the fifth, was signing his last letter to a young, Riolu girl. He cracked his long, elegant neck and put his feather pen back into its container. Suddenly, the doors to his chamber opened, revealing a small Pikachu, poking its head from the door.

"Your majesty, forgive me," said the Pikachu in its squeaky, yet slightly noble voice. "We have a refugee from the war who wishes to speak with you."

King Lizardon looked straight at the Pikachu. "Sir Heinrick, you never need to ensure that my soldiers need permission to speak with me. Please, bring him in. Sir Heinrick, the King's second-in-command Pikachu, nodded his head, and called for someone from behind the large doors. He opened the door fully and revealed a horrendous sight. An Electabuzz soldier, bruised and scratched from all around his arms, legs, and stomach. It had bandages wrapped from his head to one of his eyes, and was walking with a single crutch around his left arm. A Blissy named Agatha, the head of a nursery made entirely of Chansey, was standing behind him with a distressed frown on her face. The Electabuzz soldier slowly approached his King, and gave a light bow, to the best of his ability.

"My King," said the Electabuzz. "I come to you with a status report." He took a moment to cough up blood that was dripping down his lips. "The battle on the West Field has grown feroceous. Those ghost pokemon... They know no honor... Our team was attacked not only from the front, but behind, the side, the other side, above, below, when we even sleep!" King Lizardon, who was pained by the condition of one of his soldiers, swallowed hard. "Our numbers went from thousands..." the Electabuzz continued. "... To about 100... Maybe less... I can no longer remember. Even with our best, they crippled us as we traveled to our lines. They launched surprise attacks, stole and damaged our supplies, killed our spirits... Even literally, my lord, but worst of all... The traitors..." The Charizard king leaped from his chair in shock. "... Fear not, my King," assured the Electabuzz. "Your rule still has a good name, but these traitors... Couldn't say any name. In fact, they became more deaf and dumb than our Slowpoke neighbors. We tried to reason with them, even called their name, but... It was like a demon manifested within them. Their eyes were as red as the flames of hell itself, and they roared and gnashed like the beastly Salamence on the tall mountain ranges, and attacked us with no cause, nor mercy. In the end, we were forced to pull back, but even then those savages would not let us go. Our remaining army was separated from one another. I was lucky enough to escape with my own life." The Electabuzz's breathing was starting to turn hoarse, and King Lizardon rose from his seat to support the beaten soldier.

"You have said enough, brave soldier." King Lizardon replied. "Lady Agatha, treat this man at once." The Blissy rushed forward and escorted the soldier to the medical room. The king sat down and gave a look a distress, yet Sir Heinrick maintained an apathetic expression. "Well, there's the status of your effort, your majesty!" said Heinrick. "Sir Heinrick, I do not wish to hear it, we must fight on." said King Lizardon, who was putting each letter, along with a necklace with a golden badge that had the shape of Arceus stamped on the front side, in each of six bags to be mailed. "Surely, you've had to have been convinced by that, have you?" Heinrick replied. "Your best men are falling one by one, and now you are putting your trust into some random, untrained strangers who probably--" The king slammed on his desk in fury. "That is enough, Sir Heinrick!" the King snapped. The Pikachu chose to remain silent at this point. "Sir Heinrick, you must continue to have faith in this kingdom." the King said to him calmly. "The risks I am taking is necessary to not just ensure my safety, but for everyone else, as well. I have faith in this new team I am forming, and you should, too." Suddenly, six Pidgey flew in from the King's windows to pick up their packages. "Take these to their respective individuals." King Lizardon commanded them. "As you wish, your highness." one of the Pidgeys chirped. Each of them grabbed one of the six bags, and flew out of the castle and off to the location of each party member of Arceus' Light. The messages read:

To the home of (insert name of party member here),

You have been assigned to work for a special division of the King's royal military. This shall be known as "Arceus' Light", to shed the holy light on the forces of darkness.

You are to meet at the central square of the castle town of Moltridge. There, you shall be formally greeted by his majesty, offered food and drink, and your first mission explained. Please make haste for your arrival.

Please be sure to present your badges located with this letter to the front gate. The guards will respond to you accordingly.

Signed by Yours Truely,

King Lizardon V

OOC: Just so you know, I realize I went pretty damn overkill on this intro post. I just wanted to show how important family is to Autumn and give her some background. Most of my posts will be a much smaller chunk. :p

---

As the sunrise slowly filtered through the clouds below in a light shade of pink, a lone house in a field is just starting to begin it's day. As smoke puffs out of the chimney from breakfast cooking, we cut to Autumn in her bedroom. As light splashes through the flimsy window, Autumn's eyes began to flicker and open. A sigh. Time to get up. She stood up slowly up from her bed, and shook her covers off. Not bothering to fix her fur up, she stumbled out from her room into the small kitchen her family had. Already fixing breakfast was Autumn's mother, an Espeon. "Morning Mom..." she mumbled as she climbed up into her spot at the table.

"Morning dear... How'd you sleep honey?" Autumn's mother looked back over her shoulder from the kitchen counter. She smiled at seeing her daughter up earlier than usual...her smile faded. There was something Autumn needed to know. A letter had come in the mail from the king. She sighed and continued preparing breakfast.

Just then, Autumn's father, a Jolteon, walked in from outside. As he shuffled his feet and did removed his work clothes, he greeted his family. "Morning honey, Autumn. How's breakfast coming?" He shut the door behind him.

"Just done!" Autumn's mother whirled around with plates of food and carried them to the table. Setting them down, she beckoned her husband to come forward and stand beside her.

Autumn had been half-asleep the whole time, just trying her best to wake up. The smell of warm breakfast always helped. Yes, the smell of... what? Pancakes and sausage? Instantly, Autumn was awake and full of questions. She's from a poor family, and can't afford a kind of meal like this. Her mom would only make pancakes on special occasions... but what's happened? She was full of questions. She looked up to her Mom, completely confused.

Mom knew that this would happen and was prepared for it. She swallowed and said, "Autumn, dear, your father and I have to tell you something." She slowed, thinking for a moment of what to say, and decided to say it plainly. "We received a package and letter from the royal King Lizardon V himself. It was addressed to you... We don't know any more than you do what it will say. But anything from the King is important, and we expect that it will ask you to visit him personally..." She stopped and smiled.

At that, Autumn's father chuckled and remarked, "I suppose anything from the King is worthy of some pancakes, especially if it will be a trip, wouldn't you think?"

Autumn sat there dumbfounded. She didn't know what to think - a letter and package from the King himself? "I - Mom, Dad, where's the letter!? I have to read it!" Autumn was incredibly excited.

Her mother smiled again, and looked down to pull out the letter in one of her apron's pockets. There it was in thick parchment, written with a fine feather pen, "For Autumn Brown" with her address imprinted on the back. She took it from her Mom's hands and carefully opened it.

To the home of Louise Brown and Hector Brown,

Your daughter, Autumn, has been assigned to work for a special division of the King's royal military. This shall be known as "Arceus' Light", to shed the holy light on the forces of darkness.

Your daughter is to meet at the central square of the castle town of Moltridge. There, she shall be formally greeted by his majesty, offered food and drink, and her first mission explained. Please make haste for her arrival.

Please be sure to present these badges located with this letter to the front gate. The guards will respond to her accordingly.

Signed by Yours Truly,

King Lizardon V

Autumn didn't know what to say, she was so happy. Never in her 14 years did she think she'd meet the King himself. And he needs her help! This is...this is an adventure! Autumn had always dreamed of visiting far lands, and to not be stuck as a peasant doing farmwork. She had always had a taste for excitement and to be daring, and it looked like this was her chance -

She stopped. She looked from the letter to her parents faces, now filled with sorrow. Autumn will have to make the trip to Moltridge alone, and from then, wherever the King sends her. There was no telling when or if she'd be back. Now understanding the depth of the situation, Autumn got up from her seat and nuzzled her parents. This was a goodbye - a very special occasion indeed. "So, is this really it? Do I have to go?" Autumn had always wanted a journey, but she had never considered how it would affect her parents.

Slightly teary-eyed at the news, Louise looked at her growing daughter. "Yes, honey, it sounds like this goodbye for now." She gave another nuzzle back to Autumn. "You'll probably have to get a wash and some supplies before you go. Do you think you're ready to visit the King?" Louise tried to smile again.

"I've got some things ready here, you can take my pack Autumn." Hector had come back from a room with a pack full of things she'd might need; food, water, a light blanket to rest on, etc. The pack was an old brown bag with a waist strap and pockets.

"But before you go honey, lets finish breakfast. We don't want to lose you too fast." Louise chuckled a little. Everyone took their seats and enjoyed what to them was a feast for breakfast.

Soon afterward, now with the sun high in the sky to guide the way, and after the depressing farewell, Autumn headed out from her home. She decided the quickest way was to take the trail from her village to the main road that lead straight to Moltridge, which would take her most of the day. After a deep breath, Autumn was ready to go have the greatest adventure of her life.

---

Now, with the sun setting to the West and the vista painted a burnt orange, Autumn had traveled quite a few miles, farther than she ever had before away from home. The gates of Moltridge stood before her, majestic and powerful. As she came closer, Autumn could see the guards the letter referred to. "Halt!" A guard came up to Autumn. "What do you need, young one?" Autumn fished around in her pack. "I recieved a letter from King Lizardon V, about how he needs me to visit right away. Here are the badges to prove it." She pulled them out and showed them to the guard, twinkling in the late sunlight. He nodded. "Good to see you - Autumn, I presume?"

"Yes." She nodded back smiling.

The guard looked up and smiled back. "You're one of the first to arrive. Please, let me escort you to the castle. The King awaits." He looked back and told his comrades to open the gates. Once opened, the guard escorted Autumn straight to King Lizardon V himself.

((Hmm, not much I can do right now.))

As morning came, and night fell almost every pokemon was waking for the new day. Ceta was on her bed curled up in a spiral. Her eyes opened, and she rose her head.

"Aww, I was having such a good dream." She said to herself. She started to get out of bed, and uncurled herself. She stretched, and yawned. She came outside, and came across a letter.

"What's this?" She asked to no one in particular. She managed to open the letter without any hands. She skimmed over the letter, and an annoyed face came on her.

"Great, I have to do my citizen duty." Ceta said annoyed.
"Fine, but I better get paid." She continued talking to herself as she left to go to the castle.

"Alright, where's the food?" Mugen says, appearing at the castle and showing his badge. He hadn't eaten for 3 hours. "I'm starved!" He says, entering. He then notices the decorations. Simpleminded as he may be, the Sneasel was a lover of aesthetic beauty. "Pretty." He says. "Hey, where'm I supposed to go?" He asks a guard. "I got some letter, sats I'm being drafted. I'm not sure it's within the king's rights, but I have no dislike of fighting."

As Zen reached the city of Moltridge, at first he could only stare in awe. This place was so much bigger then the town he had grown up in! Noticing that a couple of the villagers were beginning to stare at him, he shook himself out of his reverie. "Come on Zen, you can do this!" he said to himself. "This is the chance you have always wanted, to see the world and help those in need. Are you going to waste it by just standing around?" Taking a deep breath to calm himself, Zen continued on into the city.

One of the guards, a Machop who was currently stationed at their post near the city entrance, hailed Zen. "What brings you to Moltridge City? Anyone can easily tell that you are a newcomer." He seemed to be slightly nervous about something.

Zen fished out of his bag a small badge, showing it to the guard.

"Oh, so you are one of the six! We have been expecting you." the guard responded, appearing to visibly relax. "Come with me. I have been instructed to escort you to the castle."

((Ugh... Quilavaprincess didn't come on at all yesterday. I'm going to move this along. Quilava would need to catch up, but for now I'll take it slow, lets roleplay for now.))

The guards escorted each of the recruits to the entrance of Dragonia Castle. It was down a large pathway paved with cleanly cut cobblestone surrounded by a green, grassy yard decorated with flowered bushes on each side of the pathway. Awaiting them were two major authorities, a Rhyperior wearing a metal helmet and a Pikachu. The Rhyperior was Commander Stone, who was in charge of the royal military, and the Pikachu was Sir Heinrick P. Cashew, the King's second-in-command.

"Lord Cashew, we have brought the draftees." the guards stated. Commander Stone looked down upon them with intrest, but Heinrick gave a look of shock and disgust. He walked towards the party with his tiny legs and examined each of them. Finally, he burst out laughing.

"WAHAHAHAHA! Surely, this is a joke?" said Heinrick, laughing historically. All of the guards, including Commander Stone, remained silent, much to Heinrick's surprise. "... Honestly? Put these filthy merchants back to the streets where you got them from!"

"But... Sir." One of the guards said. "They came from outside the main town, and they all bear the seals that were placed in the bags that were sent to them." Heinrick snapped back, "Don't defy me!" The spiteful Pikachu turned to the party with a nasty look. "Honestly, if I were a king, I wouldn't send for peasants, merchants, drunkards and street rats for my private army!"

((I can roleplay, no problem. Just give me something to do - I don't like slow-paced RPs at all, and this one is the slowest I've ever seen. But I'll deal with it. xD))

Autumn was in shock. How could this happen? After the initial surprise about being enlisted in an army, as exciting as it was, she wasn't ready for more surprises or the possibility of being sent home. "Excuse me, Si-Sir Heinrick... if you don't believe the guard, I can pull out my letter and badge as proof..."

She slipped her pack off and dove through the pockets reaching for the badge. Once she found it, Autumn held it up to the sunset to show that indeed, it was the badge. She knew she wasn't much more than a lowly peasant, and definitely the youngest member of the party... but Autumn couldn't wrap her mind around the fact that somebody would shoot her possibility of an adventure down just because of that. She looked up at Sir Heinrick's face, humble and full of innocence.

"Hey, moron!" Ceta yelled at Heinrick "We didn't ask to be here, our king wanted us to come. So if your just gonna insult us we might as well leave." She said with an intense gaze at the Pikachu.

Zen stared at the Pikachu with a neutral look on his face, trying his best to show no anger. "We were ordered to come here by the king, and here we are. Could we at least speak with him?"

Heinrick turned sharply towards Ceta. At first, he was appalled by her apparent disrespect towards him, but then let out a crooked smile, and patted her on the side.

"How charming, little girl." He teased. He then turned to the rest of the party. "You 'ought to forgive me, all of you I have not properly introduced myself to you all, since it seems that those with only half of their brains don't know who I am. I am Heinrick P. Cashew, the King Lizardon's second-in-command and chief adviser for the royal council." He glared at the Dratini wickedly. "In other words, I am a man that you should all respect, along with the King and any other superior you come across, so how about we cut the back-talk a little bit, unless you like having your long, skinny neck through the hole of a guillotine!" he hissed at Ceta.

The Rhyperior Commander tried to calm him down. "Please, sir, let's avoid confrontation, these men and women are not locals." said Stone.

Mugen simply flips the pikachu off with a single claw. "Very well, you can tell your boss his mission won't be completed because you're an ass." He says. "You're in no position to make threats. You can't really send us on a quest if we're dead. If it wasn't important, why would you go and wait for civilians to arrive? Besides, it's not like you can really force us to go on a journey. Once we're outside of the city, we can just escape. Honestly, you haven't thought this through, have you? Like, at all? You have much more reason to please us than we do you."

((Hmm... Lets do something exciting!))

Heinrick's jaw had dropped. No one ever, ever stood up to him like that. His blood began to boil, his vision blurred, and his cheeks flustered and crackled with electricity was he was becoming filled with rage.

"How DARE you talk that jaw to me you pompous, filthy cur!" Heinrick bellowed at Mugen. He was becoming enveloped with electricity. "I'll kill ANYONE who dares to defy me, you... You!" Just when Heinrick was about to charge into the party, Commander Stone quickly snatched the little Pikachu and held him up in the air. "Let me at him! Let me go! I'll burn that rotton ass of yours off your bloody skin!" he shouted, kicking and flailing while discharging electricity around the Commander's arm. Fortunately, due to being a Rypherior, he was unaffected by Heinrick's shocks.

"Ahem, please forgive us for greeting you so rudely. We fully recognize you as the men and women the King has summoned." said Stone, who was dangling that sassy yellow rat in his cannon-like hand. He then knelt down and whispered to the group, "Don't be fooled by the actions of this pompous runt. The king is compassionate, and will treat you accordingly when he arrives."

"DID YOU SAY SOMETHING!?" Heinrick barked. Commander Stone tried to prevent himself from laughing. "Well, it seems the problem my superior has with all of you is that he thinks you aren't cut out for the job." said Stone. Finally, Heinrick calmed down after shocking himself multiple times in his rage. "Tell you what, how about you all battle against me. If you win, both of us will take back any doubts we have against you. What do you say?"

((If the majority agrees to a battle, then your first encounter will start! Don't worry, I won't make it too hard.))

Despite all that had happened, with the yelling and the confusion, Autumn couldn't help but giggle to seeing the royal Pikachu dangle in the air from the Rhyperior's hand. Eventually he was put down, when Sir Heinrick requested a battle.

"What do you say?"

"Well, I for one wouldn't mind a battle. I'm actually a lot stronger than most people think. One of the toughest kids in my village." Autumn piped up. Her sweet smile she had before turned into a smirk. "I accept your challenge, Your Highness."

"Bring it on. I'm not afraid of the king's pet rat, hiding behind the government's skirt." He says, entering a fighting stance. "A real Pokemon needs nobody else. I lived in freezing mountaibs all my life. If I can stand up to a blizzard for three days, I can handle you for all eternity."

"Finally," Ceta says, "I've been waiting to kick your ass since we got here." She says with a big grin.

Rouge had been listening at a safe distance, and decided she should step in. "What's this about a battle then?" She exclaimed. Without waiting for an answer, she continued. "Whatever. I guess a battle would be nice...." She grinned, and walked forward. "So, let's get going!"

After waiting for a moment, Autumn raced forward at an incredible speed, aiming straight for Pikachu's body with a Quick Attack.

"If you would acknowledge us, then I accept your challenge!"

Zen concentrated a moment, a blue aura appearing around him as he did so. Seconds later the light appeared to transfer over to Autumn, the Helping Hand complete.
