  • oh man, today is Sun & Moon's FIFTH anniversary? HOW??? didn't that just come out yesterday???

SM is still one of my favorite core series games, it meant a loooot to me when it released. I distinctly remember waking up early on release day and power walking in the freezing cold to go pick it up :wynaut:
TIL that the reward you get in Pokémon Stadium for registering all 151 Pokemon in the Hall of Fame is... a level 15 Psyduck

(it's special because it knows the move Amnesia, a move it couldn't normally learn at the time of Stadium's release.)

(...Psyduck can learn Amnesia by level up starting in Gen IV, 7 years later, so this Psyduck is now exactly the same as any other Psyduck)

    (oops)
maaan, Battle Revolution is so fun. I've been revisiting it lately for Sinnoh nostalgia purposes, and I still think the models and animations look incredible, especially for such an early Wii title.
it makes me sad that it was received so negatively back when it released - I can't help but think that maybe if it did better, we'd still be getting spinoff games from Genius Sonority. :(

Battle Revolution slaps. And the music? Chills. I wish I could find MIDIs/sheet music.

    Why was it poorly received?

@Lightning Flame Blast Judging from this, mainly the lack of depth. The main complaints I personally remember hearing were usually that 1. there weren't any "story"/RPG elements to speak of, and 2. there wasn't a whole lot to do if you didn't also own DPPt.

It makes sense - but I also think it seems kind of unfair that PBR got compared to Colosseum/XD, when I always thought it was trying to be more like a successor to the Stadium series instead. (The GameCube games obviously had stuff like Battle Mode/Quick Battle, but the story was really the main draw of those games; at least to me. PBR seems way more like a Stadium game, in that it focuses more on being like a peripheral to the core games, rather than its own standalone thing.)
less than two weeks until BDSP, so it's time to settle this once and for all: Dialga or Palkia, which one is cooler? (and why is it Dialga?)

I used to prefer Palkia because my friend and I both played Pearl. But Dialga has been growing on me lately, so I decided to get Brilliant Diamond this time for some variety. I think I still slightly prefer Palkia's overall design, but Dialga has a cooler signature move and I've always been fascinated by the idea of time travel.

welp, digital version of Brilliant Diamond is now ~officially~ pre-ordered on my Switch. all that's left to do now is wait

( I'm breaking my streak of only owning physical copies up to now... but only because last time I pre-ordered something physically, it vanished into the post office ether and arrived like half a week late — and I can't help it, I want my Turtwig content locked and loaded as soon as possible. :wynaut: )
oh that's right, it's actually Halloween now. Hope you guys all get to watch your favorite movies and eat your favorite candy later tonight!

I love Over The Garden Wall! I just wish it had been longer , and at the risk of ruining my very badass reputation I'll say it, I like Barney, it's part of my childhood and I still think it's cute. But it's a secret, don't tell anyone... oh wait, now everyone can read it :lapras:.

My favorite part of Barney is counting the time in between songs. I think the maximum time is, like, 2-5 minutes.

Also the song the two kids in penguin costumes sing about the cold and the song about calling fall autumn are both certified bops.

Maybe this is a bit off topic but also part of the reason why I like it is that I love the Latin Spanish voice actor of Barney, he's also the voice of Oogie Boogie from The Nightmare Before Christmas, the singing voice of Red from All Dogs Go to Heaven 2 and many more, but I mention those two specifically because I always liked the irony of Barney sharing voice with those villains :sneaky:.

What can I say? I'm a voice acting nerd, and not only with my language, Spanish, but also with English and Japanese voice acting. How did I change the topic from Halloween to this?

just out of curiosity: what is the Bulbagarden Discord like?
I've considered joining it every now and then, but big public Discord servers are a mystery to me, so I worry I might get overwhelmed in there. =P

I saw in your About page that you write fanfiction. That's really cool!
What do you write about? Do you post it anywhere?

oh hey! Sorry I'm getting to this so late, but thank you for asking!

Right now everything I write is Pokémon (specifically Pokeani) related. I've written for other things before, but I guess I've gone full circle since Pokémon stuff was what I started with years ago.

I would love to post some of my fic online someday! I'm painfully shy when it comes to that kind of thing though, so I still never have yet LOL. But if I ever work up the courage you'll be the first to know!!

90% of the fics I've written are Pokémon related, and 99% of the fics I've written over the past few months have been Pokémon related. Back when I was going through my "modern musical theatre kid starter pack" phase, I wrote a lot of nonsensical Broadway fic. I also write Smash Bros. fanfiction and stuff for miscellaneous other media.

I totally get the shyness about posting fic. It took me a month of being on this forum before I posted in the Writer's Workshop, and it took me three more months to make an AO3. Even still, I get really anxious right before and right after posting, and there are certain works that will take more courage for me to post.

If you do ever get around to posting your fic, I'd love to read it!

i took that test where you have to name all 898 Pokémon in an hour. my final score ended up being 897 because I forgot about Sigilyph. sorry Sigilyph
every now and then, I check on the Badges page just to see which Gen 8 starter has the most fans
(not to brag or anything, but Scorbunny's winning )
oh wow, I just realized how inactive I've been for the past few weeks without noticing LOL. writing sure takes up a lot of your time if you're not careful...

I haven't been totally absent, just mainly lurking around the A&M board without much to say... you know how it is sometimes. i really miss all of you guys though! I'm sure I'll be back to gush over the New Snap DLC tomorrow night anyway XD
this is random, but I think the Pikachu design in the early days of the anime is just so cute...

i'm replying late here but - it does! I think it must be because it looks a lot more like a real animal in earlier iterations.

this might not make a whole lot of sense, but I've been thinking about it for a while now so I'll try to articulate it as best I can:

Something that I always love seeing in the Pokémon fanbase (mostly on the anime side of it, though it happens with the games too) are the people who are just extremely devoted to their favorite characters. Usually it's a specific one or two characters that they'll always talk about and know basically everything there is to know about them. Seeing that kind of love, attention, and dedication that some Pokéfans have for their favorites, whether they be human or Pokémon, sometimes to the point where they might be practically synonymous with them... it makes me really happy. It's probably because I can relate, but I just love that kind of genuine enthusiasm. Those people are awesome and you know who you are. :bulbaLove:
